Counseling Student

Starting counseling can be difficult – having had anxiety for most of my life I know that feeling first hand. However, starting sex counseling can be even more nerve racking. For something that should be a uniting experience, the topic of sex  may cause division and can be a source of shame, anxiety, discomfort and pain for many of us.  As a counseling intern, I am experienced and knowledgeable on the most up to date information in general counseling as well as sex and couples counseling. Although knowledge and skill are clearly important, I also recognize that you are the expert of your life. I will respect your autonomy and encourage you in the therapeutic process as well as learn and appreciate your story and strengths.

I believe that each person is a unique being, and therefore I utilize different skills and theories depending on what concerns you bring in. I highly value the mind-body connection, and believe that our physical and mental wellness are intrinsically linked. I operate from a social constructivist approach, meaning that I recognize how what is happening in society as a whole can influence your mental health.

For every client,  my goal is to create an affirming, safe and non-judgemental environment in which we can fully explore any and all topics without stigma or shame hindering progress.
